What to Bring in your Beach Bag
Here are some tips to make your stay a little more comfortable while on Campus.

Attire for the week is casual. Shorts are a popular choice when the weather is nice. Typically days are warm and the nights are cool.

Be sure to bring comfortable shoes and clothing you can layer, as the classrooms are air-conditioned. You will want to bring a backpack or bag to help you tote your books & supplies to class. Be sure to leave room in your suitcase for materials you will take home after a week's worth of learning and treasures you've pickup up while in Salt Lake City.

Remember, you will be at a high altitude and arid climate, so pack accordingly. You will need to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and we encourage you to bring your own water bottle.

If you want to check your email or have Internet access during breaks or in the evenings, you will want to bring a laptop if you have one. Computer Access is very limited on campus. The residence halls, Heritage Center, and the Officer's Club are all Wireless. Laptops, blackberries, cell phones etc. will not be permitted in the classrooms.

We will have a "Show your Colors Day" on Monday during Summer Institute, so be sure to bring a shirt, sweatshirt, etc with your school or institution's logo on it. On Tuesday, it will be "Beach Attire Day". If you have fun appropriate beach wear, flowered shirts, bright colored clothes, etc, you will want to bring those along too.

We recommend you bring the following items, especially if you are staying in the Residence Halls:

  • Alarm clock
  • Bath soap/Shower gel/Shampoo
  • Shower Sandals
  • Hangers
  • Robe/slippers
  • Radio
  • Reading light/lamp
  • Toiletries Transport Bag
  • Umbrella
  • Calculator, Notepad, Pen, Pencil and/or Highlighter
  • Laptop Computer
  • Camera
  • Extension Cords
  • Iron
  • Water Bottle
  • Extra Blanket/Pillow/Towel etc

Linens (sheets, blankets, towels, and washcloths) will be provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own. If you typically get cold at night, we would recommend bringing a heavier blanket.

The residence halls will be your residence for five days, so bring your "creature comforts" from home!
