It's a Fact
- from John Nutter

"It seems a delightful older lady recently contacted our local hospital. She advised them that in 1948, she had received a scholarship offer from the University of Wyoming. She was unable to attend at the time and probably no longer has a use for it. Therefore, she'd like to donate 'her' scholarship to the hospital.

Now the fun begins. Do we have records to document a 1948 scholarship? Would we give the money to another entity? How much is the scholarship worth...1948 value or 2001 value? Do we invoke the six-year time limit to use or lose the scholarship?"

"...since we can't know what knowledge will be most needed in the future, it is senseless to try to teach it in advance. Instead, we should try to turn out people who love learning so much and learn so well that they will be able to learn whatever needs to be learned." - John Holt

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." - John Wooden

"Character is higher than intellect. A great soul will be strong to live as well as think." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in the world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want and if they can't find them, make them." - George Bernard Shaw

"Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind, the stronger the trees." - Williard Marriott
