In the Spotlight
Alice Hoffert - North Dakota

Alice Hoffert has worked at the University of North Dakota in various capacities since January of 1974. With her growing involvement with the university, she starts a new endeavor as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management. Alice's most recent position was that of the Director of Financial Aid for the past five years. Prior to the Director of Financial Aid position, she was the Payroll Director for twelve years. Her educational credentials consist of a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with an emphasis in Business and Vocational Education, a Masters in Science degree in Business Education and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota, which she plans to complete in December of 2002.

Alice's priority list consists of family, school and work, in that order. Alice is married and has four children and one grandchild. Two of her children are married and one is a sophomore presidential scholar at UND and the youngest who lives at home with mom and dad. Her oldest daughter lives in Bismarck, her second oldest lives in Grand Forks and works at UND in the Continuing Education Department working with the Interactive Video Network. When asked what her hobbies are she responded by saying "I've heard people talk about that." In translation, it means that she is so busy with completing her doctorate program and completing one job and beginning a new one that she really doesn't have a lot of personal time. However, when asked to explain Alice did indicate that her greatest joy is her family time.

In Alice's new position, she is responsible for the enrollment management at the University of North Dakota. One of the goals of the university is to grow enrollment from the current 11,000 students to 14,000 students. Alice indicated the strategy to accomplish that goal is to increase the graduate program enrollments. When asked what her greatest reward would be in her new position Alice responded by saying "to provide the right mix of students so each student has a holistic college experience both in and out of the classroom".

Alice we all wish you well in your new position and we'll miss your enthusiasm at our NDASFAA meetings. Good Luck!
