In the Spotlight
From the Executive Board:
Meet Peg Mason -- Vice President of RMASFAA
Peg started in the Financial Aid Profession as a clerk typist at the Colorado School of Mines in August 1989. She started to get involved with the Colorado Association of Financial Aid Administrators in the fall of 1993 when Eileen Byrd (currently with WSLC) asked her to be her conference co-chair. And the rest, as they say, is history!
As RMASFAA's current Vice President, she is a member of the Association Governance Committee. In addition to these assignments, she also serves on CAFAA's Financial Aid Awareness Committee. In the past, she has served as President of CAFAA; Secretary, CAFAA & RMASFAA; Conference Chair for both associations and the Local Arrangements Chair for the NASFAA Conference held in Colorado in 1996.
Being honored by her peers in Colorado, she has received CAFAA's President's Service Award twice and has been inducted into the Colorado Association's Hall of Fame.
Peg, her husband, Ferril and two beautiful daughters, Amanda (19) and Victoria (Tori-16) love family activities. One of her favorite things to do is to take a day off during the week and spend it with one or both of her daughters. She loves music in general and directs a 3rd-6th grade choir/drama group through her church which is her pride and joy! She also loves to sing in her church adult choir.
Some things we may not know about her include the fact that she was born in Massachusetts. In 1996, she spent three weeks in Russia and Belarus (a former Republic of Russia) with her husband instructing teachers how to teach morals and ethics in their classrooms by using the Bible as their base curriculum.
Peg's work in RMASFAA is greatly appreciated. She is a very active, talented and valuable member of both CAFAA and RMASFAA!!
