RMASFAA 2002 Conference Committee
RMASFAA 2002 "Exploring the Financial Aid Frontier" will be held October 13-16 in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Jeff Jacobs, Director of Financial Aid at Bismarck State University, is the Conference Chair. Jeff originally started out as a member of the site committee, and then moved into the conference planning committee chair position. "Conference planning began almost three years ago," Jeff said. "There have been so many suggestions and topics brought up, it is hard to imagine how we came up with the topics we did. However, I feel we came up with a great blend of special interest sessions that should please most conference attendees."
Holly Schirado, New Loans Supervisor at Student Loans of North Dakota and Vice-Chair of the conference committee, has found her appointment to be both rewarding and challenging. "It's been a challenge to organize an event of this magnitude, but great committees and committee chairs have made the job much easier."
The program committee, co-chaired by Bob Neas and Dale Gehring, Financial Aid Directors at North Dakota State University and Minot State University, respectively, has lined up some great speakers. Governor Hoeven, the Mayor of Bismarck, and Miss North Dakota will speak, as will David Borlaug, the National President of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Foundation. Bob Ash will present, "Change is Inevitable, Growth is Optional", and Dale Brown, former LSU Basketball Coach, will present "Journey of Life". Some of the concurrent sessions include: Office Attitude, Reauthorization, Effects of Non-Standard Terms, Diversity, Future of NSLDS, Web Applications, Paperless Office (imaging) and Stress Management.
The entertainment committee, chaired by Jeanne Enebo, Assistant Director of Fiscal Operations at NDSU , has a variety of fun activities planned. Opening night will include the Northern Plains Dancers, comprised of many talented individuals representing several Native American Nations. Other featured entertainment includes the Tropical Ice Steel Drum Band, El Zagel Plainsmen, Johnny Holm Band, The Strolling Strings, and the "Mylo Hatzenbuhler" Music and Comedy Show.
The members of NDASFAA hope you will attend RMASFAA 2002 "Exploring the Financial Aid Frontier" this October in Bismarck. It will be a great opportunity for learning, sharing, professional development, connecting with friends and colleagues, and participating in some fun activities.
