Wyoming Community College financial aid personnel and supporting IT personnel converged on Casper College campus in June for two days of intensive training. All the Wyoming Community Colleges will be converting to Datatel's Release 17 version of Colleague this year. The conversion impacts financial aid so much that a Datatel trainer was brought in for the training workshop by WSLC with support from EAC and USA Funds Services. Cindy Swinson from South Dakota and Carle Williams from Wyoming have also been a big help in answering our long list of questions dealing with communications management. Productive cooperative efforts at work once again in the Rocky Mountain Region!!!!

Our Spring Conference, "Dinosaurs to Data" was DINORIFFIC! 124 attended of which 23 were first time attendees. Thanks to Tip Blewitt (CSOBA) and crew for recognizing our first time attendees. A big thanks to Mary Ann Romero (CSLP) and her committee for a wonderful conference.
The fall conference committee under the leadership of Eileen Griego (Colorado State University) is planning for our 35th anniversary celebration to be held at the University Park Holliday Inn in Fort Collins, Colorado October 7-9, 2002.
Financial Aid awareness and Diversity Issues Committees joined forces for the last round of financial aid presentations to over 25 high schools. Our publication "Financial Assistance for Education Beyond High School" was published in Spanish.
Our spring newsletter, "The CAFAA Crier" introduced our Sector Profile Series. Outstanding CAFAA members as well as new members to the association from each sector within higher education in Colorado will be profiled.
Spring decentralized training was held at Red Rocks Community College with 35 in attendance. James Broscheit (Univ. of Colorado @ Boulder) was the Colorado Trainer.
The RMASFAA Road Rally was a great success. Jim Contreras (Arapahoe Community College), Deb Frazier (Univ. of Colorado @ Boulder), Chris Christiansen (Kansas State University) and I want to thank KASFAA, SDASFAA, MASFAA, NDASFAA, CAFAA and WyASFAA for your hospitality and friendship as we presented the "Cycle of Choice". Thanks for the fun times and remember what was said in the room stayed in the room! WE LOVE YA!
I end with Summer Institute. What a great experience! I had the honor of teaching for the Neophyte group. Sue Weinreis was my wonderful partner for the NEO-BLACK GROUP. I learned so much from Sue and the other instructors as well as from the students. In fact I learned more than I taught. Thank you TEAM NEO for one of the best experiences of my life!!
Have a wonderful summer and take some time to enjoy family and friends.

Committees have been formed for next year with 50% of the active membership serving on the various committees. A new committee, the Mentor Committee, has been formed to give personal attention to our new members through phone calls, e-mail, and as a personal contact at conferences. The Mentor Committee will also encourage new members to volunteer for KASFAA's various committees as a way of becoming an active and involved member. KASFAA currently holds two conferences. The fall conference is scheduled for October 23-25 in Salina, KS and the spring conference is April 2-4 in Topeka.
At our April 2002 conference, KASFAA members were polled for their institutional viewpoints on major reauthorization issues. Robert Gamez, our past-president, will compile the surveyed results and forward to NASFAA as our contribution to this important endeavor.
