  Sum-Sum-Summer Time
By Alice Ryan, Financial Aid Officer at Montana Tech of The U of M
Summer time in a financial aid office can be overwhelming to say the least. You are busy with summer aid, the new academic year awards, scholarships, processing student loans, summer and new academic year work-study awards, numerous telephone and e-mail inquires with parents, students, campus staff and faculty. Just typing this makes a person tired!!!!!!!

Okay, so what can we do to make it through the frustrations, problems, and time crunches that come with each and every summer? I think one of the important things to remember is to be considerate of your own office staff with their needs, requests and work agenda. A good laugh in the office, not to anyone's offense of course, is always great therapy.

VACATIONS, and how we all look forward to those. On a small campus such as ours at Montana Tech of the University of Montana, we discuss who has plans and when. We are all very aware of our own time crunches within our positions, so we plan accordingly. Everyone needs a get-away and a constant communication with staff seems to keep the office running and vacations happening. And after the summer ends, the new academic year begins. Keep smiling!!!!!!!
