Membership Committee
Peggy Leavitt, Co-Chair
For over twenty years, I have been asking myself, "Why do I show up back here at work every day to take this beating?" Actually, I know why and there are several good answers to that question:
I enjoy helping students and parents.
I love the Financial Aid "Team" at Dixie State College.
I rise to the challenges of (a) following federal regulations and meeting the needs of the students and the college, (b) accomplishing as much as possible in the most efficient ways, and (c) giving service and developing professionally.
I admit, I do enjoy being a financial aid professional and, with a few exceptions, look forward to coming to work. Actually, I feel lucky to have found a vocation that is challenging and rewarding and allows me to work with people I love and appreciate.
I am a native of Southern Utah. My husband Ferron and I are very proud of our four sons and one daughter and eight beautiful grandchildren. Soon after obtaining a B.S. degree in Business Education from Southern Utah University, I began working in the Financial Aid Office at Dixie College. My Financial Aid career consists of approximately six months as secretary and twenty years as Director of Financial Aid at Dixie, which is now Dixie State College of Utah.
I have had many professional opportunities for service and personal growth. Among the most rewarding are: President of UASFAA (and Pres. Elect and Past Pres.); Vice Chair and Chair, RMASFAA Conference and Publications Committees; and Member of the Board of Directors for the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority. In addition to being a Board Member for UHEAA, I am currently serving as Chairman of the EIC Committee for UASFAA, spearheading the development of the Association website and listserv and Vice Chair of the RMASFAA Membership Committee.
The Chairman of RMASFAA's Membership Committee this year is Ryan Graalum from North Dakota State University. Assisting us are Jennifer Wurth, Clarkson College, Nebraska; Karon Johnson, University of Colorado - Boulder, Colorado; Randy Thompson, Sheridan College, Wyoming; Judy Chapman, Rocky Mountain College, Montana; Pam Lane, Northern State University, South Dakota and Cheryl Bellinger, Bank of America, Kansas.
The purpose of our Committee is to promote the benefits of RMASFAA membership to institutions and agencies in the states of the Rocky Mountain Region. We invite you! We look forward to meeting you! We need your involvement! Participation has brought tremendous rewards for me - great training, wonderful mentors and friends, and personal growth. RMASFAA offers that to you, too. Come and get involved!
