  Summer Packaging
By Molly M. Williams, Laramie County Community College

The end of spring semester and beginning of summer semester are upon us. Daily someone says to me "it must be getting quiet for you" or "there must not be much to work on during the summer". I grin and laugh to myself as I review the challenges I am facing with packaging summer aid.

Since this my first summer to be involved with packaging aid, I continue to lean on our packing guru. Interesting topics keep emerging during our conversations. If you are a new financial aid employee like myself, these are some topics you may want to review before packing summer aid - summer mini-sessions, COA, remaining eligibility, and summer only transfer students.

On the advising aspect of financial aid, I have become aware that there is a need to include discussion of summer attendance. Financial aid planning for the student should include the possibility of limited or no financial aid availability for the summer semester.

In summary, find the guru in your office or become one.
