  In the Spotlight…
  Christy Nordmann

Christy NordmannChristy is a Scholarship Specialist for the University of Wyoming Office of Student Financial Aid. Her entire financial aid career spans eight years, all of which were spent in UW’s scholarship area. Christy now serves as Vice Chair for RMASFAA’s Electronic Initiatives Committee. This is her first formal position on a state or regional association committee. When speaking of her role so far, Christy says that she likes the support and the friendships that can be found and kept, and that it is “good to find someone to share challenges and successes with”. She is also impressed with the ideas that come out of associating with peers.

Christy’s immediate professional goals are to survive the ever-changing world of enrollment management, scholarships, federal and state programs, etc. She currently directs a lot of her energy to automating scholarship administration processes, including the extremely complex State of Wyoming Hathaway Scholarship.

Christy sees UW as unique in that it is the only four-year school in the state. For a state-funded school, UW has a huge amount of endowment and legislative support (like the Hathaway) from a state that is financially quite well off. Looking toward the future, she thinks that support will continue.

Christy’s office employs 23 full-time staff, with major functional divisions including Pell, scholarships, loans, VA, customer service, outreach, consortiums, work-study, technical staff, and athletic aid. She proudly says, “We are a diverse group, and advocate effectively for students.”
