Greetings from the RMASFAA President
By Sally Crow Schuman

Sally SchumanIt is hard to believe that we are already beginning the new academic year. Summer was just a blur. By the time you are reading this, fall registration will be a recent memory. Right now I'll bet you are probably scrambling to validate disbursements and answering the phone every few seconds to hear the question, "When am I going to get my money?"

This issue of the Rocky Mountain Exchange is full of valuable information that I know you will want to hear about. Our fall conference is just a few short weeks away. Hotel rooms at the conference hotel were booked up in early August, but the Conference Committee has worked out negotiations with the Crystal Inn as the nearby overflow hotel. Amy Capps and her crew have put together an excellent program for you. I am sure by now you are all dreaming AC Grant and SMART Grant in your sleep. It seems like something else comes up every week that brings more questions. There will be presenters from ED there to help you sort through the latest information on the new programs.

We are also working on a fun Awards Banquet for Tuesday night to celebrate the past year, and to honor and recognize award recipients. This is something you will not want to miss.

Do you have someone in your office who will be a first-time attendee at the Conference? The Leadership Pipeline Committee will be hosting a welcome on Monday morning to meet and greet those new to RMASFAA. Bev Bell and her team of experienced financial aid gurus will be sharing from their vast repertoire in a jam-packed session of facts and fun.

Voting for your 2007 RMASFAA leadership has concluded. The Nominations and Elections Committee put together an excellent slate of candidates. RMASFAA will be in good hands next year with this caliber of leadership.

This is my last article before I turn the gavel over to Cristi Easton at the end of the Fall Conference. I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to all of this year's board members, committee chairs, committee members, and volunteers. You have done well. It has been a great honor to have served as your president this year. Thanks to each and every member of our great association for your support and encouragement. I will always cherish the memory of the year. RMASFAA truly is a great family of caring professionals.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at the conference in Salt Lake City in October.

Sally Crow Schuman
