  In the Spotlight:
Meet your RMASFAA Membership Chair, Shauna Savage

As part of the Association News Committee for RMASFAA, we are highlighting our current committee chairs and state presidents. In each “RMASFAA Exchange” we will invite four or five of them to be “In the Spotlight” and give you the opportunity to better know these dedicated and hard-working volunteers.

Butte Montana has been my home for my entire life. I graduated from Montana College of Science and Technology on May 14, 1994 with a BS in Mathematics and a Minor in Accounting. My husband, Randall, and I chose to stay in Butte and raise our children here. We have two beautiful girls, McKenna (6) and Megan (2). They keep us very busy with everyday activities as well as running to Irish Dance, swimming and numerous camps. Our favorite family activities are attending Griz games and traveling. The girls mostly like to be entertained by Monte and having pizza but McKenna is actually beginning to understand football. Most recently we surprised the girls with a stop at Disneyland on our way to Cabo for their Uncle’s wedding. It was great to see their reaction—definitely a priceless moment. In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking all of our memories.

My Financial Aid career all started with a note on my Physics quiz that I needed to go to the Financial Aid Office. Always the worry wart, I assumed that something was wrong but, to my surprise, I was offered a workstudy job in May of 1991. In December of 1993 I was offered a full-time position. My main duties were handling student employment including Federal and State Workstudy and managing the Peter Potter Loan Fund. In November of 1995, I accepted a new position that managed all of the scholarships and was responsible for all of the student loans. As of July 1, 2005, I am the Financial Aid Specialist.

Financial Aid is very challenging and a new experience everyday. I cannot imagine working anywhere else. I especially enjoy the people that work in the Financial Aid field which has led me to be the current Chair for the Membership Committee and MASFAA’s president for the coming year.
