  NASFAA Salary Survey Shows . . .
  RMASFAA Salaries Up, But Trail Other Regions

Salaries in financial aid offices in the RMASFAA region continue to rise, although they tend to be lower than those in other parts of the country. You can find out more about how the nation’s financial aid professionals are paid in a new report entitled Key Factors in Compensation of Financial Aid Administrators and Staff: A Report on the 2003 NASFAA Salary Survey, now available through the Research News section of the NASFAA web site at www.nasfaa.org.

The survey collected data from 459 respondents in the RMASFAA region. Overall, it showed RMASFAA aid offices enjoyed a 22% gain in average annual full-time salaries from 1997 to 2003. Salaries rose fastest for associate directors, assistant directors, and managers and supervisors during this period.

Over 3,700 respondents from all over the United States provided data for the survey. Comparative data from four of six NASFAA regions indicate that financial aid staff members in the RMASFAA region tended to be paid better than their counterparts in the southeast but not as well as their peers in the Midwest and eastern United States.

The survey also indicated that average annual salaries for financial aid directors in the RMASFAA region to be the lowest in the nation at $50,814 per year. Financial aid directors who responded to the survey from the WASFAA region averaged the highest annual salaries at $63,907.
