A Salute to Robert(Bob) Neas
Submitted by: Rev. Donald W. Flaherty, Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, ND
The world of financial aid grew a little smaller this past year with the retirement
of Robert (Bob) Neas on June 30, 2003. Known by many in the financial aid community
as a humble, dedicated leader, Bob was a giant among his peers. Bob got his
start in 1974 when he was appointed Director of Financial Aid at Mayville State
University. In 1985, Bob heard the call to “Head East, Young Man” and
became the Associate Director of Financial Aid at North Dakota State University,
where he continued to serve in this capacity until being appointed Director
in 1996. During his 29 years as a financial aid professional, Bob has served
in a number of leadership positions in both RMASFAA and NDASFAA ranging from
being a trainer for Summer Institute and Decentralized Training to being a
committee chair to an association officer. Bob has participated in a number
of professional associations, both in and out of the financial aid arena, and
has received a number of awards for his service including the NASFAA Leadership
Award and the RMASFAA Distinguished Service Award. Never wishing for the spotlight
or seeking attention, Bob continued in his daily task of bringing excellence
to the students and staff at his institution in the delivery of financial aid;
for this Bob, we salute you.
