Wyoming National Guard 100% State Educational Assistance Plan
During the 2001 legislative session, the Wyoming Legislature signed a bill providing money to the Wyoming Military Department to help Wyoming National Guard members attend an approved college or technical school in Wyoming. The plan can pay up to 100% for one degree and it considers an associate's bachelor combination as one degree.
Shellie Franklin, Education Services Office, Wyoming National Guard, was instrumental in implementing the plan. She spent numerous hours working with WYASFAA members to insure the program would be successful for the colleges and technical schools in Wyoming, the students, and members of the Wyoming National Guard.
WYASFAA High School Counselor Workshop
Jacque Burns, Central Wyoming College, Director of Financial Aid and 2001 WYASFAA President, moderated a successful High School Counselor Workshop via compressed video. Delivering a workshop via compressed video is an excellent avenue for reaching the majority of our high school counselors. No counselor has to drive more than 50 miles to a compressed video site. The first two hours of the workshop were dedicated to financial issues and the last hour was reserved for the Wyoming High School Counselors Association.
The workshop was coordinated by Janelle Hoem, Business Development Associate, WSLC and sponsored by Citibank Student Loan Corporation, Education Assistance Corporation, USA Funds, Wells Fargo College Steps Scholarship Program, and Wyoming Student Loan Corporation (WSLC).
